All new things can take getting used to. Remember when you learned to separate your recycling? And now it’s second nature.
How to flush a gRefill.
Flushable? Really? Sure, you wouldn’t expect you could flush your baby’s diapers, but it’s true. Just follow the directions first and call us if you have any questions. After all, gDiapers have passed a rigorous independent flush test.* We couldn’t say “flushable” unless we did.
The key is to follow the flushing instructions very carefully and to know your plumbing. If you are nervous, then simply start slow and work your way up or choose a different disposal option. Just because you can flush, does not mean you have to (but we think it’s pretty cool!).
Take the plunge (pardon the pun).
The key to a clog-free toilet is to always make sure the inner core of the gRefill is completely separated from the outer material. If any of the inner core gets stuck, it can create a sock that will act like a plug, which could clog your toilet. Here’s a tip: dunk the entire gRefill into the toilet. Then tear down both sides, letting the inner core fall into the toilet. The extra water it soaked up from the initial dunk will help it separate more easily. Hold onto the outer coverstock while you swish the inner core, then flush and release the outer coverstock with the last swoosh of water.

Please be advised.
- Do not flush with tree-infested, faulty or non-standard plumbing.
- Septic? We don’t recommend it.
- Newbies: use two flushes, one for the inner core and one for the outer material. Once you get the hang if it, you can graduate to one flush.
- Never flush more than one flushable refill at a time.
- If using flushable wipes, flush separately.
- Don't let the contents sit in the bowl for very long as they will simply absorb all the water. After all, a gRefill can hold 100 times its weight in water.
- Although there is a tear prompt, the gRefill can be torn from any corner (just so you know!)
- If you do get a clog with a gRefill, reach into the toilet and pull out the material. You can always wash your hands. If that doesn’t work grab the plunger. If you feel you got a clog despite following the directions, please let us know.
- When in doubt, throw it out. We wouldn’t want an unknown plumbing issue to cause you a massive headache as a result of flushing. So, please, if you suspect you have tree roots in your pipes, or other iffy situation, don’t flush.
Can't flush?
Remember, it's ok to toss gRefills. They’re plastic-free and certified biodegradable. Everything that goes into our gRefills is reabsorbed by the planet. It's very cool. You can even home compost the wet ones. They'll break down in 50-150 days. We simply ask that if you choose to toss instead of flush, please put the poop in the toilet. And poopy gRefills should never go in the compost. |
